Benefit concert planned

Friends of Independence Township Urbain family have rallied to host a benefit concert to help as father and husband Richard fights stage-four pancreatic cancer following his July 2005 diagnosis.
The concert is on March 4 from 4:30p.m.?11 p.m. at Clarkston High School atrium and cafeteria.
According to concert organizer and friend Beth McCoy, the Urbain family has lived in Clarkston for over 15 years. Richard has volunteered throughout the community working for Crime Stoppers fund-raising events, Mamon Riders to raise over $350,000 for children with illnesses and St. Dan’s Parish Men’s Club.
Urbain has held several jobs with General Motors since 1977 with his most recent position being Senior Administrator at the Proving Grounds. Urbain is now on disability according to McCoy.
The concert features three bands: Mannafest (classic and soft rock), Superfakers (rock) and Flashback Duo (oldies).
In addition to the music, local restaurants including the Clarkston Union, O’Malley’s Galley (Ortonville), Nickelodeon, Red Knapps and Mr. B’s will serve food in a strolling taste-fest.
Advanced tickets are available for a suggested $15 donation. Tickets at the door have a $20 suggested donation. Food tickets will be sold separately for $1 each like at the Taste of Clarkston. All proceeds go to the Urbain family.
