Berkeley in concert

Clarkston Cultural Arts hosts David Berkeley in concert, 7:30 p.m., Sept. 24, at Picasso’s Grapevine, 12 S. Main Street.
The singer and writer will perform favorites and tell stories from ‘The Fire In My Head,? ‘Some Kind of Cure,? and his other albums, as well as his new works ‘Cardboard Boat? and ‘The Free Brontosaurus? which releases Sept. 25.
‘The Free Brontosaurus? is named after a sculpture of a dinosaur he found in front of a home in California.
“It was a pretty unattractive piece of lawn art,” Berkeley said in a press release. “But it spun me into thinking about people’s different appreciation of beauty. I began imagining a story about an eccentric guy who is totally taken by this thing. Maybe the people in the house happen to be getting rid of it (understandably), and so this man takes it home.?
The story is one of a set of interwoven tales in his second book, ‘The Free Brontosaurus,? and accompanying songs on his sixth studio album, ‘Cardboard Boat.? The songs are sung from the perspective of each story’s main character.
He lives in Santa Fe with this wife and two young sons.
Admission is $15. Call 248-297-5982 for reservations.
