BHS girls harriers win first dual meet, get ready for league opener

Brandon’s girls cross country team got off to a solid start in its first dual meet of the season.
The host Blackhawks went up against Mt. Morris in a Sept. 13 meet. Mt. Morris did not have enough runners to field a full team, so Brandon won the meet with 18 points.
Kayla Doan won the meet in a time of 21:38, while Kelsey Carmean finished second at 21:46. Other Brandon competitors were: Jamie Hendershott (fourth, 22:08), Kelly Wilson (fifth, 22:09), and Sarah Eldon (sixth, 23:08).
The Blackhawks start Flint Metro League competition Sept. 21 when they travel to Linden for a tri-meet. Brandon coach Rod Yeacker said Fenton is the league favorite heading into the league schedule.
‘They’re running well,? he said. ‘I think they’re quite a bit better than the other teams.?
