t 12:15 am on Friday, May 6, 2011 a Lake Orion Police Officer was operating a fully marked, Lake Orion Police Car on N. Park Blvd. (M-24) north bound at W. Flint St. where he collided with a bicyclist.
A 38 year old Lake Orion male resident was killed when he attempted to cross North Park Boulevard at W. Flint Street on a bicycle.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lake Orion Officer was not injured.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction unit will handle the investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
The officer involved is a 24 year veteran of the Lake Orion Police Department.
