Oxford voters overwhelming cast ballots Tuesday in support of their fire department.
By a margin of 2,627 to 726, township and village voters approved the five-year, 1.5-mill tax renewal to fund the department’s fire operations and Emergency Medical Services.
Residents were equally generous with Advanced Life Support services, for which they voted 2,487 to 841 to renew the five-year, 1-mill tax that supports the program.
‘Obviously, I? m very happy with the way it went,? said Fire Chief Pete Scholz. ‘I appreciate that the public feels that we’re doing a good job and are responsive to their needs.?
Of the 14,282 registered voters in Oxford Township, a total of 3,384 (or 23.69 percent) cast ballots in Tuesday’s election.
