The Brandon Girls? Cross Country team placed second in the Flint-Metro League meet on Oct. 17.
Hannah Scherer won the meet with a time of 19:53 and is to be named the new Flint-Metro League Champion, as well as being honored with first team All-League Honors. Andrea Newcombe placed 11th, earning second team All-League Honors. Jamie Hendershott took 16th, Jenna Ehde18th, and Sarah Lindsay 21st, all given honorable mention. Completing the varsity team are Becca Chewning, who took 23rd, and Rachel Toward, who placed 25th. Linden won the meet with 47 points, followed by Brandon with 67 points.
The team competes in the Division I Regional Meet hosted by Holly at Springfield Oaks, 12451 Andersonville Road, Davisburg today. They must place in the top three teams to advance to the state finals. If they do not qualify for the state meet as a team, only the first 15 finishers will advance to the state finals as individual competitors.
