Blackhawks route Redhawks in district opener

Brandon Twp. — The Brandon Boys Blackhawks Varsity Soccer team capped off a stellar 10-0-1 Flint Metro League record and 13-7-1 overall season with a dominating 10-1 win over the Port Huron Redhawks Oct. 10, in the first round of Division 2, District 27 play at Brandon.
“This season we have been blessed with an exceptional group of young men,” said Veteran Head Coach Shawn Lovelace, in his 13th year as the Blackhawk skipper. “Many of them have been playing together since they were very young (kudos to Jeff McKinney,) and several have been on the Varsity squad since they were freshman.”
Goals for Brandon: Nolan Holloway 4, August Austin 1, Tristan Groom 1, Connor Teaney 1, Owen Stone 1, Colten Fournier 1 and Dexter Harwell 1. Assists: Anthony Mirolli 2, Nolan Wood 1,Tristan Groom 1, Owen Stone 1, Colin McKinney 1, Colten Fournier 1 and Nathan Brinker 2.
“Winning the Flint Metro League Championship undefeated is an incredible accomplishment and will be hard to duplicate,” said Lovelace.
“What a memory for these guys. The season is still young and the Blackhawks are not finished. These young players continue to define ‘Brandon Grit.’ Best of luck in the post season boys.”
