Broken glass and blood, but no burglar.
That’s what Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies found when they investigated the scene of a reported breaking and entering around 1:47 a.m. May 13 in the 800 block of Edith Dr. in Oxford Township.
Deputies were called to the home after it was discovered that one of the attached garage’s windows was broken.
According to the sheriff’s report, the 40-year-old homeowner and his son were playing video games when they heard a ‘crashing noise? emanate from the garage.
The homeowner investigated and discovered the broken window, but he didn’t find the cause of it, so he went back to playing video games. Thinking it was strange, he went back to the scene and took another look around.
He inspected the window and found blood on both the ledge and broken glass, the report stated. He also discovered the window frame was broken.
In his report, the investigating officer observed the window screen appeared to have been removed and placed off to the side.
Samples of the blood were collected and sent to the Michigan State Police laboratory for analysis.
A sheriff’s K-9 unit was called in to search the area.
The dog followed a scent eastward along Edith Dr. and continued tracking along Davis Lake and Indian Knolls drives.
‘We tracked up to Davis Lake Dr. and Indian Knolls and the K-9 circled the intersection several times before continuing east on Davis Lake,? the reported stated. ‘The K-9 tracked back into the cul-de-sac and then started tracking up to several garage service doors. The K-9 then tracked back out to Indian Knolls and lost the (scent).?
