Blue Star flags

Brandon Township residents with a family member serving in the military are eligible to receive a free Blue Star flag.
Township resident Alice Marsh supplies the service flags, first made popular during World War II when the flags were displayed in front windows. Marsh has given out more than 90 Blue Star flags and has also presented three Gold Star flags to families that have lost loved ones in combat.
Flags are free to township military families. Those outside the township can get a flag for $5. Details: 248-627-6162.
