A man charged in the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in the township was back in the Oakland County Jail May 15 after 52-2 District Court Judge Joseph Fabrizio revoked a $25,000 personal bond.
The man must now post a $100,000 cash bond in order to be released on a GPS tether after Fabrizio determined the earlier bond, given by a magistrate the week before, was too low.
The 42-year-old man, whose name is being withheld by The Citizen to protect the victim’s identity, was arraigned May 5 in 52-2 District Court on three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct on a person under the age of 13.
The victim has lived with the man and his wife for several years. The abuse began approximately a year-and-a-half ago according to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office report and she had been inappropriately touched by the suspect about 50 times since then.
Each count of first degree criminal sexual conduct on a person under 13 is punishable by a life prison sentence or any term of years. The mandatory minimum sentence is 25 years in prison and lifetime electronic monitoring.
