Boutique fashion show to benefit SCAMP

Clarkston Flower Shoppe is throwing its 2nd annual fashion show on Thursday, Sept. 16 to display its clothing boutique’s fall lines while benefiting Clarkston SCAMP.
The event will be held at 20 W. Washington St., in the brick halls of Clarkston’s Washington Mills Mall. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served before the show at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20. All proceeds go to SCAMP, a local special needs summer camp for children and young adults.
‘Everyone is so focused on supporting Clarkston. We think it’s important to support a local charity,? said Clarkston Flower Shoppe Owner Shari Schulz.
‘It’s a huge part of the community. Everyone is aware. All we have to say is SCAMP, and they understand,? said Manager Stephanie Harmon.
Each year, the fashion show proceeds support a rotating cause. Last year’s show benefited childhood cancer research, while next year’s will benefit breast cancer research.
Those walking the runway include customers, local residents and Amber Matich, an 18-year-old SCAMP attendee, or ‘SCAMPer.?
‘The models are fabulous,? Harmon said.
The show is estimated to end at 8:30 p.m. An after-party will be held nearby at Essence on Main, with complimentary refreshments served by the gourmet specialty food store.
Clarkston Flower Shoppe launched the in-store Chi Chi La La Boutique in March 2009.
Women’s clothing labels featured in the show will include Katherine Barclay, Mystree and Baa Baa Zuzu.
Baa Baa Zuzu, a favorite of Schulz, is a northern Michigan-based company that uses vintage wool to create jackets, hats and other accessories.
‘The quality is amazing. They have a pretty extensive line,? Schulz said.
Kid Rock’s Made in Detroit clothing will also be included in the show. Schulz said the label has been popular in the boutique since it was introduced in December.
The boutique is currently working to expand its men’s apparel. Schulz said the men’s selection is not as full as the women’s, but that the items are ‘more edgy, very unique? and not found in department stores.
Show attendees can bring their ticket stubs to the boutique after the event to get 15 percent off a purchase between Friday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 19.
Tickets are available until they sell out. They can be bought at Clarkston Flower Shoppe, 7150 N. Main St. The Chi Chi La La Boutique is located inside the shop. For more information, call 248-625-9711.
