Clear Lake Elementary’s Peacemakers Club hosted a bowling event Sunday afternoon at Collier Lanes to raise money for the K-9 Stray Rescue League, which is based right here in Oxford.
A total of 99 bowlers participated in the two-hour event, raising approximately $515 for the league, which provides food, shelter and love to stray dogs until permanent, caring homes can be found for them.
In addition to raising funds, at least one dog was adopted that day.

Bowling for pooches
Members of Clear Lake Elementary’s Peacemakers Club raised approximately $900 for Oxford’s K-9 Stray Rescue League through a bowling event it held Sunday afternoon at Collier Lanes.
Dubbed the ‘Super Dog Bowl,? to coincide with the Super Bowl, the event drew 134 moms, dads and kids, who all came to knock down some pins for a worthy cause.
In addition to raising much-needed funds for the rescue group, the event resulted in the adoption of two dogs in need of loving homes.
Consisting of Clear Lake students in the third through fifth grades, the Peacemakers Club is dedicated to doing community service projects. ? CJC
