Boy Scout Carson Johnston, Troop 199 of Clarkston, was awarded his Eagle Scout at a May 22 Court of Honor.
In Boy Scouts, Carson was a Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life Scout.’He earned 33 merit badges, served in several leadership positions, won the World Conservation Award and the American Trails Gold medal. He also earned the Jimmy Stewart Leadership Award.?
In’scout service to his community, Carson volunteered more than 500 hours, assisting in nursing homes, homeless shelters, food pantries, the neighborhood elderly, a tutor for younger children, environmental projects, trash clean ups and recycling.
His 2009-2010 Eagle Project collected more than 1,000 pounds of dog and cat food for the Oakland County animal shelter. He planned the project, carried out marketing and led a team of scouts and community volunteers. Carson and his friends worked more than 220 hours to complete the project and want to make it into a yearly campaign.
Carson is a 2010 graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory in Pontiac. He is headed to college later this year at Grand Valley State. He, along with his brother Alan are the third generation of Boy Scouts in the Johnston family.?

Boy Scout Kyle D. Inch, 16, a sophomore at Clarkston High School, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of Troop 185, co-chartered by Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Waterford and the Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club, Independence Township.
Inch earned 29 merit badges, completed the Mile Swim at summer camp five times, and completed Project COPE twice (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience). He has served the troop as an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Scribe.
For his Eagle Project, Kyle organized and carried out construction and installation of fish habitats for the Clinton River Watershed Council. With donations of materials, troop and watershed volunteer built 17 structures in the Kings Cove area of the Paint Creek, off Tienken Road, in Rochester. Protection, provided by the structures, allow fish places to rest, congregate, and reproduce without being preyed upon.
Inch is a varsity letter holder in swimming. He is an Honor Roll student with a grade point of 3.9. He is the son of Terry and Tami Inch. He has two older brothers, who are both Eagle Scouts: Matthew and Michael.
His Court of Honor was June 6.
