Oxford’s boys cross-country team lost their first meet in eight years on October 13.
But they did not lose without a fight.
Although the boys beat Linden, they lost the meet to Fenton by a score of 30-29.
One single point made the difference between eight consecutive, undefeated seasons and Oxford’s new meet record of 47-1.
The team’s spirits were crushed. Nobody had a smile on their face ? not the coach, not the runners, not the fans.
The team is now trying to focus on something positive ? like beating Fenton on Oct. 20 to become FML champions again!
Like the boys team, the girls also beat Linden at Friday’s meet, but lost to Fenton.
However, the girls are very happy with their overall season.
They had only two losses.
This was the best season the girls have had in at least 5 years.
But regardless on how good the season has been, the girls are still looking for a battle on Oct. 20. They are ready to devour the competition.
Seven schools, 15 medals, and only one team for the boys and one for the girls will come out on top.
Who will it be?
The intense Flint Metro League championships will be help at Linden 4:30 p.m Oct. 20.
