Brandon’s boys basketball team took one on the chin Dec. 19, losing a 48-47 game against host Lapeer East, dropping the Blackhawks to 2-2.
The two teams battled to a 10-10 tie at the end of the first quarter, then Lapeer East took command of the game with a 14-5 second quarter surge that left them with a 24-15 lead at the half. Despite Brandon’s furious fourth quarter comeback, which saw them outscore East 18-9, the Blackhawks fell short in the end.
Tom Schaefer scored 14 points to lead the Blackhawks, while Gjon Nicaj added 12. Aaron Wilmers led East with 12.
The Blackhawks return from the holiday break Tuesday, Jan. 6 when they host Lakeland.
