Brandon district sets opening day school schedules

Students in the Brandon school district return to class on Thursday, Aug. 21.
The first day of school will begin with a full day for all students. The following is the schedule of opening day times and information for each building:
nBelle Ann Elementary: Students attending Belle Ann Elementary School are scheduled to begin classes at 8:55 a.m. and will be dismissed at 3:45 p.m. Buses will drop students off at the school around 8:45 a.m. and parents bringing students to school that day must drop them off on the east side of the parking lot. An open house will also be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 6-7:30 p.m., at which time students and parents will meet their teachers, visit the classrooms, and receive information on the school curriculum and policies.

nHarvey-Swanson Elementary: The staff at Harvey-Swanson is happy to announce that the doors will open to the students for a full day at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. They will be dismissed at 4:05 p.m. Class lists for grades K-4 will be posted at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. Students and parents are invited to attend our Back to School Curriculum Night Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. Please report to the classroom(s) to visit the teacher(s) and tour the building.

nH.T. Burt Elementary: H.T. Burt Elementary School will start the day at 9:15 a.m. and end at 4:05 p.m. The building opens at 9:10 a.m. Class lists and bus schedules will be posted on the outside window by 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. Even day Kindergarten students report Friday, Aug. 22. All other students report Thursday, Aug. 21. A Back to School/Curriculum Night for students and parents will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 6-7:30 p.m.

nBrandon Fletcher Intermediate School: Opening day at Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School will begin at 7:50 a.m. for 5th grade and 8 a.m. for 6th grade students. All students will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. Class lists for grades 5 and 6 will be posted on the front windows on Friday, Aug. 15 after 5 p.m. On the first day, Aug. 21, all students should report to the Commons/Cafeteria.

nBrandon Middle School: Brandon Middle School classes run from 7:40 a.m.-2:10 p.m. daily. On Thursday, Aug. 21 there will be a full day of school for students and hot lunches will be served. Tuesday, Aug. 19 is the alternate schedule pickup day for students who have not yet picked up their schedules. We ask that students being driven to school by car be dropped off at the front (Northwest) side of the building in the curb (right) lane for safety’s sake.

nBrandon High School: Brandon High School begins at 7:25 a.m. and ends at 2:25 p.m. On Thursday, Aug. 21 there will be a full day of school for students and lunches will be served. Parents are invited to attend a Back to School Night on Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 6-8:30 p.m. Parents may walk through their child’s schedule and meet their teachers by picking up a copy of their schedule at the high school office.

nSherman Lifelong Learning Center/Choices Alternative High School: Students in the CHOICES Program are scheduled to begin their classes at 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21. The student day ends at 2:50 p.m. Individual class schedules will be available when students arrive on the first day. Students are to enter through the CHOICES entrance door and proceed to their first hour class.
nFood Service Department: The Food Service department reports the lunch cost will be increased for this school year: Elementary (K-4) lunches will be $1.75 and secondary (5-12) lunches will be $2. The breakfast price remains the same at $.70 for grades K-6.
