Brandon Township clean-up snags record

Brandon Twp.- More garbage than ever.
That was the conclusion by Averill Disposal, the company that collected the waste from Spring Cleanup, on April 30 and May 7. Averill took 28 general loads (25 cubic yard compacted garbage trucks); 23 wood loads (30 cubic yard open top trucks); 37 mixed loads (30 cubic yard open top trucks); eight loads of tires (40 cubic yard dumpsters); and 36 metal loads (40 and 60 cubic yard trucks) over the two days. The metal goes to a recycler in Flint and tires go to a Flint company that shreds and recycles the tires. Everything else goes to Citizen’s landfill in Grand Blanc.
Averill reported it was the largest amount of garbage they’ve taken from Brandon Township in six years as the cleanup company. The township pays $45,000 for Spring Cleanup.
