It’s on to next season for Jeremiah DeJose and the rest of the Brandon boys tennis team.
DeJose, a junior, lost in the round of 16 in the #1 singles state finals competition May 31 at Holland. Trevor Beach of Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern defeated DeJose 6-1, 6-2.
The Blackhawks wrap up their season with a second place finish in their first year in the Flint Metro League, as well as an overall record of 6-3-1.
‘I think it was a good season,? Brandon coach Debbie Sebetic said. ‘We have a lot of rebuilding to do for next year.?
The Blackhawks will lose seven seniors to graduation: James Carss, Dale Creamer, Gregory Dean, Paul Gunnels, Christopher Lane, Jeffrey Michal and Mark McCoy.
DeJose will lead the cast of returnees for next year’s team. Other players of note returning for next season are juniors Aaron Bayliss and Brandon Dorda and sophomore Chris Nuccio.
