After 30 years of knowledge and service, Connie Brewer knows her business inside and out. Straight from high school, she made the choice to be successful in the insurance field and has showed that to be true since.
Brewer first got a job as a file clerk for Aetna Casualty for two years. While she continued her college education, she worked with Framkenmuth Mutual for one and a half years as an adjuster.
From there, Brewer joined State Farm Insurance in 1973 in Alpena as a superintendent’s secretary. She knew this was a great place to continue her career.
After four years, she migrated to Saginaw and received a promotion to office adjuster and was eventually promoted to field adjuster after a move to Mt. Pleasant. She was the first woman in the outstate area to receive this promotion.
While living in Mt. Pleasant, she served for two years as the president of Mid-Michigan Adjusters Association. Brewer was also involved in the Jaycee women’s group and served as president and vice president.
On top of work and the numerous organizations, she was still pursuing her education. She changed her major from education to business administration with an emphasis in insurance. She was graduated in 1985.
During this time she was placed on State Farm’s promotable list for management and was interviewed in numerous offices statewide. She received an offer in Waterford and moved to Oakland County. Four years later, she applied for an agency when she learned that an agent was retiring, and ended up in Ortonville.
Brewer Insurance has been at 125 N. Ortonville Road for 11 years and has been surrounded by the friendliness of the community.
On the list of services she specializes in, they have added long term care insurance and now have their own State Farm Bank. Included in this feature are auto loans, checking accounts, certificates of deposits and credit cards with very competitive rates.
‘I have met a lot of wonderful people and enjoy the small town atmosphere. I have held the position of vice president and president for two years with the chamber of commerce. It’s great to see how the organization has grown.?
During her many years with State Farm, she has qualified for two trips to Europe, several awards and is currently a select agent. As a leader in her industry, she is proud of the personal care they and the way they handle claims.
‘State Farm has been a great company to represent and work for,? she said. ‘I am looking forward to my future with State Farm and my agency in Ortonville and would like to thank all my clients for their friendship and support.?
