Brief = Lake Orion consent agenda

Fireworks in Lake Orion-Wolverine Fireworks Inc. again requested to have fireworks shot off from barges in Lake Orion on June 30 with the rainout delay again scheduled for July 7. No fireworks will be shot from Green’s Park. As a result, Green’s Park will open to spectators as this has been done for the past three firework displays.
The action before the council was to authorize or not authorize the use of Green’s Park for viewing of the fireworks and whether or not to charge a fee for admittance to the park. The recommendation was to charge village residents $1, children $1, township residents $4 and other $4.
The motion was approved as part of the consent agenda Monday, June 11. The fireworks will begin after 8 p.m. 1,000 passes are available.

DDA requests sign permits-The DDA has several events that take place throughout the year. Instead of having sign permits come before the Village Council numerous times, the DDA would like an approval on a single permit.
On Monday, June 11, the DDA sought to amend that permit by adding an event to advertise the 2012 Senior Open . The banner would be 4×20 feet with an additional banner at 3×10 feet.
The action before the council was to approve or disapprove the amended application, which they did at the June 11 meeting as part of the consent agenda.

Appointment to Board of Zoning Appeals – The board is allowed 5 members with not more than two alternate members with terms expiring every three years.
The terms of Councilman Douglas Hobbs and Boardmember Brad Mathisen are set to expire on July 1. Both have expressed interest in reappointment.
The action before the council was to appoint or not appoint the two back to their positions as an alternate and regular member, respectively.
The council reappointed both men at the June 11 meeting.
