Youth leadership
An eight-week program in the fundamentals of oral communication and leadership is being planned for young people in the Ortonville area. ‘Youth Leadership? will be presented at no charge by members of Grand Blanc Area Toastmasters Club #6188 at 10 a.m., today, at Wojo’s Greenhouse, 2570 Oakwood Road. It is open to all young people 10-18 years of age at no cost.

Prom boutique
Hope Closet Prom Boutique, a non-profit organization, is collecting gently used prom dresses and accessories for girls who otherwise would not be able to attend prom. Donations of clean and undamaged items will be accepted during regular Brandon Township Library hours until Feb. 29. The library is located at 304 South St.

Sentencing
A 26-year-old Brandon Township man who has consistently failed to register as a sex offender will face sentencing April 7.
William Andrew Page pleaded guilty Feb. 7 to four counts of sex offender’s failure to register, second offense, in front of 52-2 District Court Judge Kelley Kostin.
Page, who resides in the 4300 block of Wildwood Loop, failed to register during several registration periods, including July and October of 2006 and January, April, July and October of 2007.

Offices closed
Ortonville- The village offices will be closed on Feb. 18 in observance of Presidents? Day. They will reopen at 9 a.m., Feb. 19.

DDA appreciation
Ortonville- The Downtown Development Authority will sponsor a volunteer appreciation party from 7:30-9 p.m., March 6 at the Old Town Hall, 480 Mill St.
The party, which will feature a chocolate fountain and other treats, is to honor volunteers involved in the DDA, Main Street, and programs including CreekFest, the Cruise to Ortonville and Beets, Beats, & Eats.
