DPW audit
Ortonville- Officials are hoping a recently conducted audit of DPW equipment will lead to better maintenance of vehicles and cost savings to the village.
Findings in the audit, performed by some councilmembers, as well as Village Manager Ed Coy, indicated some vehicles have not had regular oil changes or other basic maintenance, and records on previous maintenance could not be found. Other tools had not been cleaned after use.
In a written summary of the audit, Councilmember Harold Batten said, ‘As to the condition of the equipment that (was) observed, it appears that lack of maintenance is not only from just since they went to a two-man crew, but has existed for some time.?
Village Manager Ed Coy said that maintenance henceforth will be performed in a more timely fashion and things that need to be fixed won’t be neglected.
‘I don’t know why the maintenance was not being done, it just wasn’t,? he said.
