Blood drive
There will be a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on March 20 at the Brandon High School Library.

Senior Lock-in 2008
A fundraiser for Brandon High School seniors from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on March 17 at Red Knapp’s, 2 N. Washington St., Oxford. Details: (248) 628-1200.

Parent night
A parent information night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 19 at the Reid Elementary School Media Center for parents interested in a developmental kindergarten program designed to complement the traditional program during the 2008/2009 school year. Details: (810) 591-3455.

Deputy OK’d
Brandon Twp.- During their March 3 meeting, the township board unanimously approved the hiring of a Deputy I, a certified police officer, to take over the public safety aid position formerly held by the late Larry Roberts.
The new officer will perform the duties of a public safety aid, as well as assist other deputies in the field as needed at a cost of $91,076, an increase of $25,511.

New ambulance
Brandon Twp.- The township board unanimously approved at their March 3 meeting the purchase of a new Wheelcoach ambulance, at a cost not to exceed $120,000.
The addition will increase to four the number of ambulances in the fire department’s fleet.
Fire Chief Bob McArthur said another ambulance is needed at Station #2, 3065 S. Sashabaw.
