Ortonville- Larry Brown is the new interim village manager.
The village council unanimously voted to assign Brown to the position at their April 12 meeting. The former village manager, Bill Sprague, has taken a position in the private sector after five months in the village. His last day was April 9.
‘I think Larry will do a great job,? said Village Manager Ken Quisenberry.
Brown has served as the village’s part-time treasurer since January 2008. He has been a Brandon Township resident for the past 20 years and is retired from General Motors, where he worked for 36 years and was a finance manager.
‘I feel good about this,? said Brown, who is also continuing his duties as treasurer. ‘I’m happy to contribute to the community.?
He plans to apply for the village manager position and is currently being compensated at the rate of the former manager. The council also approved a $2 per hour pay increase for Clerk Heidi Barckholtz during the interim period.
Quisenberry said the council is still working on developing a process by which the next village manager will be selected.
