Mexican food fans are going to have to go without their favorite Taco Bell fixes, at least for a couple of months.
The Lapeer Road fast food restaurant was demolished on Oct. 6, to clear the way for a new Taco Bell building to be constructed. Owner Ashvin Shah, who has owned the Taco Bell in Lake Orion for 16 years, said the old ‘mission style? of the former building will be replaced with the new ‘L-70 series? building, as other current Taco Bells are.
‘We will be redoing the building in the modern style to represent Taco Bell’s current image,? Shah said. ‘It will be a bigger building, both length and width.?
The former building was 2,000 square feet. When the remodeling project finishes, with a target date of Jan. 2, 2005, the new building will have 2,800 square feet of space.
‘We will have two drive thru windows for faster service,? Shah said. ‘There will also be a screen that will show customers in the drive thru what they have ordered, and we’ll have two separate steam lines, one for dining room customers and one for drive thru.?
The building will be increased from the former 50-seat capacity to 68 seats, just two short of what most L-70 series Taco Bells hold. Shah said that is due to the size of his site on South Lapeer.
‘The building will be brick, and there will be about 38 or 39 parking spaces,? he said.
