Dr. Leslie Crowell-Powell, DDS, recently joined Clarkston Village Dental, 55 S. Main Street.
“This is a wonderful, tightknit community ? it’s nice to see so many people helping each other,” said Crowell-Powell, who joined the practice last September. “I enjoy working here and want to become part of the community.”
That includes helping people in need. When she learned a young patient needed dental care but didn’t have insurance for it, she provided treatment free of charge.
“She’s doing great,” Crowell-Powell said.
She and her husband, Doug, live in Waterford with their children Haiden and Hailey. A graduate of the University of Michigan, she started her career as a hygenist before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

Scott Hazelton, financial advisor for Edward Jones in Clarkston, was recently invitated to Edward Jones’ annual Managing Partner’s Conference in April at the firm’s regional campus in Phoenix.
He is one of 350 financial advisors out of more than 12,000 to receive the honor. Hazelton said the conference is also a chance to freshen ideas for enhancing customer service.

Marc M. Powers, licensed Raymond James Financial Services representative, was hired by Oxford Bank to manage non-traditional banking portfolios.
Powers joined Oxford Bank on Sept. 8. He brings more than 11 years of financial planning experience with Raymond James Financial Services. In addition to advising and assisting individual and commercial customers with investment options, he will also provide expertise in financial research and planning, along with tax and estate planning.
A Clarkston resident, he holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and finance as well as an Associates Degree in real estate management from Ferris State University.

Jeffrey Forman, medical director of 21st Century Oncology radiation therapy centers, Independence Township, was recognized by American Academy of Family Physicians for his work as a teacher in family medicine.
Forman is a professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Wayne State University. Acknowledged as teacher of the year by Wayne State University School of Medicine and Sloan Kettering Hospital, he has written or contributed to 150 publications, eight book chapters, and 116 abstracts.’He has presented his work on cancer, especially prostate cancer, all across the nation.
Mary Beth Carter of Clarkston was chosen as a 2006 Michigan Businesswoman of the Year by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Carter will ne honored for this accomplishment in March, 2007, in Washington D.C. at the Republican Spring Gala.
‘It has been a fantastic year for addressing my professional peers and working with the Business Advisory Committee to ensure quality of services for our seniors,? said Carter, the owner of Home Care Advantage in Clarkston.
Over the past year, she has advocated for seniors as they face obstacles such as changes in Medicare benefits, and has spoken about them to several area chambers of commerce and Rotary clubs.
She has a Master of Science Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas in Arlington and recently completed requirements for Certified Senior Advisor.
