Brandon Twp.- The landscape is changing at Country Oaks Landscape Supply.
Owner Mark Cherry plans to make several improvements after the township board reviewed and approved a consent agreement at their April 3 meeting.
The agreement includes approval for three greenhouses and two storage areas for landscape materials at the13-acre property located at the corner of Seymour Lake and Sashabaw roads. Cherry has also agreed to a request from the township board that he install two greenbelts? one facing Seymour Lake Road and the other on the north end of the property, for aesthetic reasons.
Cherry, who purchased the property two years ago from his uncle, Bill Cherry, is excited about his plans for the business, which offers a vast selection of paving stones, natural stone, decorative aggregates, mulches, edging, top soil, grass seed, erosion control and more for customers? landscaping needs.
Country Oaks is also offering nursery stock, including shrubs, ornamental trees, and perennial and annual plants.
‘We have a lot more inventory than two years ago,? says Cherry, whose new products include stone veneer and stone facia. ‘We’ve got a lot of neat irons in the fire.?
A new brick pathway will be installed at the front of the property, leading to the greenhouses, which currently have numerous plants sprouting from pots, including Gerbera daisies, rhododendrons, geraniums, petunias, marigolds, phlox and Black-eyed Susans.
Cherry is currently offering one free Gerbera daisy or geranium to each customer and is planning barn-burning sales, including 2-1/2 inch red maples for $129 each. Special pricing will be offered every month on items such as boxwoods and burning bush.
An exterior remodel of the property is planned and an interior remodel is complete.
‘I love this business,? Cherry says. ‘I grew up in the industry with my father and I’d rather do this than anything else. We’re here for the customers. We like to take care of everybody.?
