Cagers beat Seaholm, fall to Stoney

The Oxford varsity boys basketball team put one more in the win-column last week after defeating Seaholm 58-43.
‘The Seaholm game was good. Everyone on the team got some floor time and were able to contribute to the win,? said Head Coach Dave Brown. ‘All of the starters scored and we had some bench points.? It was a good team win.?
Jordan Jadan led the Wildcats with 27 points, followed by Marc McCallister with 11 points.
Oxford was hoping to carry the excitement of its Seaholmwin into Friday night’s Winterfest game against Stoney Creek, but unfortunately, the Cougars walked away with a 82-49 victory, leaving the Wildcats speechless.
‘Stoney came into our gym and shot the lights out,? Brown said. ‘They had a mission to seal up the league title and they did.? They are a very good team that is well-coached.?
The Cats leading scorers were Ray Luvine with 15 and Jadan with 10.
Oxford will travel down the street Feb. 24 to take on the Lake Orion Dragons before bringing it back home on Friday against Ferndale. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
‘We are looking forward to the Lake Orion game.? It gives us a chance to bounce back from the Stoney game and play a good team to try and get another win,? Brown said. ‘As far as Ferndale, it was a close game last time we played (and) they won, (so) we hope to go get one back.?
