Ortonville- Halloween candy donations will be accepted from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Oct. 29, at the village offices, 476 Mill St.
Every year, hundreds of trick-or-treaters descend on the village for the close proximity of homes and safety of lighted streets, causing a financial hardship on some residents wanting to provide candy to children.
Donated candy should be individually wrapped. Residents wanting to be put on the list to receive donated candy to pass out must call or stop in to the village office.
Trick-or-treating in the village this year will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Oct. 31. Church Street will be closed to traffic between Oakwood Road and Mill Street.
A bonfire with cider and doughnuts will immediately follow trick-or-treating at the DPW building, 159 Cedar St.
