Car fire damages home

Early in the morning of June 24, a family slept while flames destroyed their car in the drive way. Fortunately for the Allen Road residents, a neighbor spotted the flames and called the fire department. ‘We got it out quickly and there were no injuries,? said Brandon Fire Chief Bob McArthur. ‘But the car was a total loss.? he said. Because the residents were asleep at the time, Chief McArthur said they are unclear how the fire started. The car fire has been ruled suspicious, says McArthur, and is being investigated by the Oakland County Fire Investigation team. McArthur said the fire caused damage to three other vehicles in the driveway, as well as extensive siding damage to the north side of the dwelling. ‘It’s very fortunate the neighbors saw that fire,? said McArthur. ‘It was just a matter of a few minutes before the other cars or the house were involved.?
