Authentic Mexican cuisine is coming to downtown Oxford direct from ‘South of the Border? ? the Michigan/Ohio border that is.
‘Casa Real? (pronounced ‘Ray-al?) is scheduled to open in the former Third Wave Seafood and Chop House building (21 S. Washington Street) sometime in November.
Owned by Ohio resident Alberto Pimentel and his family ? which owns and operates a number of Casa Fiesta restaurants in the Buckeye state ? the new Oxford eatery will feature authentic Mexican food made entirely from scratch.
After spending five years running Casa Fiestas in Ohio, Pimentel will personally oversee the setup and operation of the Oxford restaurant.
Pimentel vowed Casa Real will not feature Americanized Mexican food such as Tex Mex. ‘It will taste like the food in Mexico.?
Patrons will be able to enjoy traditional buritos, enchiladas, tacos and fresh-made salsa along with steaks, seafood and chicken dinners.
Casa Real will offer ‘pretty much everything? at ‘prices for everyone,? Pimentel noted.
Feeling thirsty? Complement your delicious meal with an ice cold imported Mexican beer or freshly mixed Margarita straight from the bar.
Because man cannot live by tortillas alone, Pimentel said he plans to feature live entertainment such as a Mariachi Band twice a month.
He also wishes to offer an ‘after hours? atmosphere on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights complete with ‘nightclub? feel and DJ.
The old Third Wave building’s pitch black exterior and darkened windows are in for a big change as Pimentel plans to paint the outside yellow and orange and install standard windows that allow potential customers to look in on all the fun.
Inside, Pimentel plans to decorate using items brought straight from Mexico and transform the upstairs area into the ‘Cancun Room? for private parties, meetings, wedding receptions, etc.
