Oxford Varsity Girls Swim & Dive team took their first plunge of the season away against the Hazel Park on Sept. 3, where the Wildcats out swam the Vikings 149-26.
‘Hazel Park has a very small team, so we were able to swim some different events so that I could get times for athletes in events that may not be their typical events,? Head Coach Jackie Rank said. ‘I was also able to fill many of their empty lanes with exhibition swimmers to give me more data to move forward into the season.?
In the 200 Medley Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Kemp, Giannola, Alexander, and Krebs took first with a time of 2:17.33, Oxford’s B Relay of Hamilton, Baker, Schonfeld, and
Bourn came in second. 200 Freestyle: junior Captain Danielle Kemp took first with a time of 2:19.53. Emily Vican and Rachael Baker came in second and third respectively. 200 Individual Medley: freshman Claire Alexander came in first with a time of 2:34.60. Rachel Commons and Tate Hamilton finished in second and third respectively.

In the 50 Freestyle: Junior Bella Giannola took first with a time of 27.79. Christina Boydston and Kayla Krebs came in second and third respectively. Diving: Junior Jenna Zeiter came in first with a personal-best score of 172.35. She remains third on the All-Time Top Ten list. Freshman Keira Veltigian came in second place.

In the 100 Butterfly: Sophomore Rachel Commons finished in first place with a time of 1:12.57, which puts her in sixth on the All-Time Top Ten list. Kayla Krebs and Rachael Baker came in second and third place respectively. In the 100 Freestyle: Sophomore Christina Boydston took first with a time of 1:03.52. Emily Vican and Paisley Arent came in second and third respectively. 500 Freestyle: Claire Alexander came in first with a time of 6:04.95, which puts her in seventh on the All-Time Top Ten list. Danielle Kemp and Cailin Griffith rounded out the top three.
In the 200 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Giannola, Boydston, Krebs, and Commons finished in first with a time of 1:57.92, Oxford’s B Relay of Sovis, Schonfeld, Vican, and Baker took second. 100 Backstroke: Freshman Tate Hamilton came in first with a time of 1:17.38. Paige Hodder and Paisley Arent took second and third respectively. 100 Breaststroke: Bella Giannola finished in first place with a time of 1:28.38. Emily Sovis and Emma DiMalanta rounded out the top three. 400 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Commons, Vican, Boydston, and Alexander came in first with a time of 4:21.08. Oxford’s B Relay of Beebe, Bourn, Arent, and Kemp took second place.
