Oxford Varsity Softball continued their strong season with a sweep over Lapeer East last week.
Oxford defeated the Eagles 11-1 and 7-0 to improve their league record to 5-3 and 18-6 overall.
Offensive standouts for the Wildcats were junior Corinne Luxton 1 for 4 with 4 RBIs, junior Kelly Cartner was 3 for 8 with 3 RBIs, junior Allie Laidlaw was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and sophomore Alyssa Hurtado was 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Oxford split with Swartz Creek on Thursday scores were 7-8 and 3-0.
‘In the first game, we were not playing Oxford Softball,? said Head Coach Kristi McDevitt. ‘We threw the ball around way too much and Creek capitalized on it. That was very uncharacteristic of the girls and it cost us huge.?
The Lady Wildcats settled down and regrouped behind Luxton on the mound to come back and win the nightcap.
Junior Chelsea Kessler’s bat came alive and she had a strong showing at the plate going 7 for 8 with an RBI.
Laidlaw continued bringing in her teammates, with 4 RBIs and went 4 for 6.
Luxton pitched the second game and McDevitt said it was an excellent game. Luxton allowed only one hit and five strike outs.
The Lady Cats are now 19-7 overall and 6-4 in the Flint Metro League.
McDevitt said the girls have three very tough games this week and will be ready for the challenge.
They host the Brandon Blackhawks on Wednesday and Holly in doubleheader games beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The girls host Lapeer West on Saturday. The doubleheader games begin at 10 a.m.
McDevitt and the team invite everyone to come out for evenings of ball games and to support the team.
