The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of an oil spill on Keats on April 5.
According to an OCSD report, the department was contacted by a member of the Orion Township Fire Department, regarding a man who said he found an oil spill near his home on Keats.
The man said he saw what appeared to be hydraulic fluid in the street in front of his house, in the sewer drain and collected in a pool where the drain empties into the lake behind his home.
A neighbor said he witnessed two Great Lakes Waste garbage trucks and a service truck at the location. The fire department attempted to contact Great Lakes, and the Road Commission for Oakland County was notified and contained the oil in the drain. The Department of Environmental Quality was also notified of the incident.
