The Orion Township Board of Trustees has decided to postpone a decision on accepting credit card payments from residents.
The board was to have voted on an agreement with Official Payments Corporation at their April 17 meeting, but will instead consider it in May.
The agreement would allow residents to pay property taxes over the phone or internet with charge cards. All applicable fees will be paid by those Orion Township.
The board hopes to meet with a representative from OPC to address some concerns noted by the township attorney.
Treasurer Alice Young said a decision must be made by May 1 if the charge card option is to be available for the July tax bills.
