Christmas care packages filled

Campbell Richmond American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63 collected dozens of bags filled with donations for overseas troops.
“We gathered 84 bags, very good for our first time,” said auxiliary member Annie Germic.
Auxiliary members went door to door to hand out grocery bags with a list of items needed by soldiers, Aug. 8, and returned to pick them up, Aug. 22.
“We all were so excited to see all of the residents of Clarkston join us for the Troops Special Christmas boxes that we send out in December,” said Bonnie Parker, auxiliary member. “We are thinking about doing another one next month.”
Donated items include protein bars, sheets, socks, foot powder, chapstick, roll-on deordorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and shampoo.
The donations will be assembled into care packages at a Troops Packing Party, Dec. 1, at the auxiliary, 8047 Ortonville Road.
The auxiliary also requests addresses of soldiers so they can send a Christmas box to them.
