St. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarkston will begin excavation later this month on the construction of a Family Life Center addition.
A ground breaking worship service will be held Sunday, June 8 at 10 a.m., followed by a potluck luncheon at noon and Bible study from 6-8 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The Family Life Center, an 11,300 square foot addition to the already 20,000 square foot church, will be used for classrooms, office space, fellowship hall and gymnasium. Construction is said to be completed by Easter 2004. It is a three-year pledge in terms of the financial plan.
The congregation involved itself in a year-long campaign in hopes of seeing the construction of a Family Life Center become a reality. The past year, St. Trinity’s focus was ‘Share!: One God, One Body, One Purpose.? This included holding activities such as prayer vigils, All Church Bible Studies, fellowship celebrations, speakers and committees, bringing the entire congregation together to focus on expanding the church building and heightening their spirituality.
St. Trinity has a long history, holding its first worship service in Pontiac in 1885. The church has called Clarkston home since 1975, located at 7925 Sashabaw Rd., just north of Clarkston Road.
