Clarkston officials are looking to appoint two new members to city boards after the death of a planning commission member left one vacancy and the resignation of a zoning board of appeals member left another.
Planning Commissioner Martha ‘Marty? Johnston, 72, passed away Fri. Aug 31. She was the widow of former Clarkston Village President Rich Johnston.
Robyn Johnston, who is not related to Marty Johnston, sat on the ZBA as well as the planning commission. She resigned both seats last week.
‘We wish to thank Robyn for her work on (the Planning Commission and the ZBA),? said Clarkston Mayor Sharron Catallo. ‘She’s done a good job and we appreciate all her hard work.?
City Manager Art Pappas echoed the sentiment.
‘I was always impressed by her work on the ZBA,? he said. ‘That can get sticky.?
Robyn Johnston did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
City council members were asked to make nominations for both seats at the next regular meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the city offices.
