Clarkston designer wins gum contest

Amanda Kelley of Clarkston won $5,000 in the Orbit Spotlight Series Design contest.
She is one of eight winners in the contest out of hundreds of entries from college students and fans nationwide.
Kelley, 21, is a student at the Art Institute of Michigan pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Art degree, majoring in Visual Communications.
Her winning design concept was inspired by an existing Orbit gun pack design featuring overlapping bubbles.
‘I loved the retro pop feel of that particular pack,? she said. ‘I just began running with that idea for my design concept.?
She plans to use the prize to buy a new computer and design software for her design studies and to build her portfolio. She plans to graduate, May 2012.
Melon Remix gun packs with her winning design and signature will be on shelves through February.
