A new physical therapy clinic in Clarkston could make finding relief from sprains and strains a little less painful.
Team Rehabilitation offers a variety of treatment options and modalities performed by licensed, professional therapists, as well as a bright, spacious treatment area stocked with new state-of the art exercise and therapy equipment.
Although the clinic helps with aliments ranging from sprains, strains, and tendonitis to fibromyalgia and arthritis, many patients arrive for help with lower back pain.
‘It seems to be the most vulnerable place for injury,? said Kevin Byrne, Team Rehabilitation-Clarkston clinical director and lead physical therapist.
Each new patient, Byrne explained, receives an extensive evaluation to determine the best course of care.
‘We try to customize a plan of care for every individual,? said Byrne, who has Bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology and health science, as well as a doctorate in physical therapy. ‘Not everyone has the same type of lower back pain, for example, so you can’t take one single approach and expect it to work for everyone.?
Each month, Byrne sits down for a meeting with directors from each of Team Rehabilitation’s seven other locations.
It was the organization’s commitment to high standards and high-quality patient care that prompted him to sign on with Team Rehabilitation, Byrne noted.
The group, he said, strives for excellent patient care, consistency among the clinics, uses evidence-based treatment, has a no-waiting policy and extended, flexible hours.
‘Definitely, patient care is our first priority,? he said. ‘We want to provide top-notch care and get the best outcome for every patient.?
To achieve that objective, he said, it’s important to find out about the patient’s goals for work, recreation and other activities.
While Team Rehabilitation has individually managed clinics in Farmington Hills, Livonia, Macomb Township, Royal Oak, St. Clair Shores, Southgate, and Woodhaven, the Clarkston location, which opened in mid August, is the first in north Oakland County.
Byrne, who lives in Grand Blanc, said he is enjoying the getting-to-know-you process in the Clarkston area.
‘I really like the small town feel,? he said. ‘It’s a friendly place to be, and people seem to like keeping the business local. I’m looking forward to getting out to meet more people.?
Team Rehabilitation provides free transportation to and from the clinic when necessary, and accepts most major insurance plans.
The clinic is located at 7250 Dixie Highway, Suite 200. For more information, call 248-922-9280.
