Cobras playing in world series

The Oakland Cobras placed first at the Michigan National Softball Association Scholarship and Common Grounds 18U tournament July 15-16 in Lansing, and placed 3rd at the NSA State Tournament July 1-2 in Cooperstown, Jackson.
Placing in both these tournaments qualified the team for the NSA World Series. The team hopes to continue its nine game winning streak in the series in East Peoria, Illinois this week.
The team of 14 is comprised of four players from Lake Orion High School, including three recently graduated seniors. Christina Collins is holding down an average of .324 while playing first base and pitching. Layne Smedley (shortstop) and Natalie Hunt (outfield) have shined defensively for the Cobras. Sasha Perryman, who will be a senior at LOHS next season, has played well at first base.
Lake Orion coaches include manager Bob Katner and scorekeeper John Collins.
The NSA World Series runs from July 23-31.
