Collier Lanes

What is the most popular sport in Oxford?
Well, it’s not played on the football fields, basketball courts or baseball fields.
In Oxford, for more than 50 years, that sport can only be found at Collier Lanes.
Owners Mark and Jeff Collier have rejuvenated the business and brought the fun of bowling to Oxford and Orion residents.
Colliers offers the expected adult, youth and mixed leagues, but it also has bowling tournaments, birthday and company party packages, pool and dart leagues, a restaurant, two lounges and Cosmic Bowling every Friday and Saturday night.
What about those who just want to bowl a game or two now and then? For those kegglers, open bowling is held daily.
For those looking to participate in a slightly more competitive event, Collier Lanes will again be holding its double elimination tournament on March 23.
There are also openings in all the leagues and there are leagues for every age and gender, including mixed leagues. New leagues are starting again in May and anyone interested can call 628-2851 for more information.
Also beginning in May, there will be a nine pin no tap league on Wednesdays, as well as an NFL Football night on Thursdays.
One of the exciting programs also scheduled to begin in May will be on Tuesday nights. The Cartoon Network night will be an adult and youth league featuring a little something for everyone.
Participants in the program can choose from four different packages that include their bowling time plus some additional benefits:
n Option 1 includes a Cartoon Network VIZ-A-BALL and bowling bag featuring a choice of either Scooby-Doo, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo and Courage the Cowardly Dog.
n Option 2 includes a Race & Roll jacket featuring a choice of either Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Rusty Wallace and Tony Stewart.
n Option 3 includes an engraved ball and bag with the same cartoon characters available.
n And Option 4 is for bowling only.
Yet another service available to patrons is bowling lessons. There are lessons offered at Collier Lanes through the Oxford Parks and Recreation Commission as well as individual private lessons. Please contact Collier Lanes for more information.
In addition to all these services and activities, Mark Collier said the family also offers the facility to groups to hold fundraisers.
‘It’s a great opportunity for a group to raise money and have fun at the same time,? said Jeff Collier.
In fact, Collier Lanes held it’s own charity event this past Christmas. Thanks to the generosity of Collier patrons, several families were able to enjoy a luncheon, free bowling, presents and a visit from Santa during the holidays.
‘We would like to thank all the people who donated to the needy families for the Oxford and Lake Orion area,? Jeff Collier said.
With the spring leagues just around the corner, Mark and Jeff Collier said they expect to enjoy an exciting season.
‘We’d like to thank all of our patrons for the past 55 years. Watch for our ads, come on in and enjoy the fun.?
