Community dries out after storm; aid may be available

Village of Goodrich and Atlas Township residents that may have suffered damage and/or losses due to the storm that dumped more than six inches of rain in the area on May 3 and May 4, are encouraged to contact the township and village to complete a Damage Survey Assessment Form. The data will be provided to Genesee County Emergency Management for possible financial reimbursement/aid.
Officals at GCEM say the information from the storm is gathered and reported to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for possible low interest loans needed for repairs
‘We truly have residents in the area that were severely impacted by the recent storm,? said Shirley Kautman-Jones, township supervisor. ‘Sometimes residents just don’t know where to turn in the case of damages.?
Forms are available at municipal offices in Goodrich and the township. They should be submitted by Monday, May 14.
