Concert to blend technology with the classics

The Electric String Quartet will perform a free concert at Cranberry Lake Park, as the second concert in Oakland Township Parks and Recreation’s ‘Music in the Meadows? outdoor concert series on July 13.
The quartet is comprised of four musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, with Ann Strubler and Adrienne Ronmark on violin, Glenn Mellow on viola and Debra Fayroian playing the cello. Shar Music, in Ann Arbor, will be providing Yamaha electric instruments for the evening.
Using electric instruments will amplify the music, helping the sound travel further outdoors.
The concert will take place at the farmhouse, with the quartet performing on the porch. They will play a selection of Mozart’s work, called ‘Electric Mozart!?
‘It’s going to be wonderful,? said Mindy Milos-Dale, Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Director. ‘I’ve enjoyed all the concerts we’ve had so far.?
Before the concert there will be an art exhibit from 5 p.m. until the concert begins at 7 p.m.
Park visitors are welcome to bring picnic dinners, however, no alcoholic drinks are allowed on the property.
In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved indoors. Cranberry Lake Park is located at 388 West Predmore Road, between Lake George and Rochester Roads.
Oakland Township’s ‘Music in the Meadows? summer concert series is sponsored by Warren Bank, Twin Lakes Golf and Swim Club and Marcial’s Home and Garden.
The next concert in the ‘Music in the Meadows? series will feature jazz music and will be held on August 17 at Bear Creek Nature Park.
