Corridor plan’s future in doubt

The future of the Sashabaw Corridor Improvement Authority plan is on the line.
Independence Township Board has set a special meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Fire Station No. 1, 6500 Citation Drive. On the agenda is reconsideration of the Sashabaw Road CIA plan.
At a special meeting April 24, a motion to set a tax-increment financing plan at 50 percent over 17 years was defeated 3-2. The plan would have allowed the township to set aside half of the tax revenue increases resulting from development.
The revenue would be used for further development.
‘We’re still looking at it,? said Treasurer James Wenger, who voted against the motion, along with Trustees Larry Rosso and Daniel Kelly.
‘There are pluses and minuses with everything.?
