Council appoints Frost DDA director, sets salary at $40K

It’s official ? Joe Frost is the new executive director for the Oxford Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
Last week, the village council voted 5-0 to appoint Frost to the position.
‘I’ve heard some very, very good things about him,? said Councilman Tom Kennis.
Frost will start work on Monday, July 6. He will be paid an annual salary of $40,040, plus benefits.
He was one of 11 candidates who applied for the job. The DDA board voted 5-3 to offer it to him at its June 15 meeting immediately after interviewing him and another finalist.
Frost is currently wrapping up his position as a community preservation specialist for Indiana Landmarks Eastern Regional Office in Cambridge City, Indiana. He’s worked there since November 2011.
Indiana Landmarks is a nonprofit organization that fights ‘to defend architecturally unique, historically significant, and communally cherished properties,? according to www.indianalandmarks.org. The organization rescues and rehabilitates these properties and gives them ‘new purpose.?
As a community preservation specialist, Frost provided technical assistance and advocacy to municipalities, nonprofit organizations and individuals. He has experience with fund-raising, planning events, managing volunteers, handling administrative functions, administering a facade grant program, managing a website and social media, and establishing a newsletter.
He has a master’s degree in historic preservation from Ball State University (2010) and a bachelor’s degree in geography from Michigan State University (2008).
No stranger to Michigan, Frost is a native of Davison. He and his family plan to move to Oxford.
