Ortonville- CreekFest will be back in June and better than ever.
The Downtown Development Authority announced last year that they would not sponsor CreekFest in 2012, choosing to focus funds elsewhere. However, DDA Executive Director Molly Lalone said several businesses have stepped forward to bring back for the ninth straight year the event that celebrates Kearsley Creek.
‘CreekFest was down, but not out,? said Pam Belding, CreekFest promotions chair. ‘CreekFest celebrates our cool jewel’Kearsley Creek, which is why we have Ortonville in the first place.?
CreekFest 2012 is planned for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 2 in the village. Belding is currently looking for friendly vendors to sell homemade Michigan wares. A 10×10 booth space is available for $35. Booths will be consolidated in an area by the Old Mill. CreekFest educational and interactive exhibits will be near the Mann Schoolhouse and next to the creek.
The Birds of Prey show will return this year, and there will also be live folk music. A pet parade is planned in the morning.
Perhaps most exciting of all this year is that the Ortonville Lions Club will sponsor a carnival, complete with rides, midway games and food, held in conjunction with CreekFest. The carnival will take place June 1-3 in the parking lot and on the soccer field adjacent to Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School, 300 South St., Ortonville.
