Dear Editor,
Crop Walk 2011, Ortonville community’s thirty-first walk to relieve poverty world wide, as well as right here in Ortonville, took place on Sunday, Oct. 2. Nearly $5,000 was raised by 63 walkers, which will go to Church World Services for distribution, of which twenty-five percent will be returned to the OCEF food pantry. The Crop Walk Committee thanks all who participated in any way to make this fundraiser happen: Kitchen Helpers, Crossing Guards, Registrars, those who set up water stops, the bagpiper, the V.F.W. and members of the Cert Team, everyone who signed up the sponsors and walked, and of course, the folks who responded in this time of financial hardship by pledging to the walkers. Thanks also to the merchants who contributed toward the purchase of the t-shirts given to each walker and worker. The Crop Walk Committee thanks you all on behalf of those whose lives will be a bit easier with the money you help raise.
