Five top-20 performances propelled Lake Orion’s boys cross country team to a first-place finish at last Saturday’s regional, held at Heather Highlands Golf Course.
Ryan Ziolko finished third overall, with a time of 17:46. Max Hock (18:18) was ninth, Kyle Lawton (18:25) finished in 13th, and Doug Mack and Nathan Ziolko finished 17th and 18th, respectively for the Dragons.
Times were effected by cold temperatures, wind conditions and rain, but Lake Orion battled the elements, with their 60 points being two better than second-place Milford.
The girls team, meanwhile, just missed out on qualifying for states, by finishing fourth in their regional (the top three teams advanced).
However, and eighth place finish by Allie Hock (21:06) meant that the Dragon junior qualified for the state meet as an individual.
