DDA Board now in flux

To the editor:
In response to ‘Another DDA member steps down amidst controversy,? (The Citizen, Sept. 29, page 13):
There is no question the DDA Board is in flux. Like any board that is staffed totally by volunteers, there are often differences in opinion, as well as level burnout which occurs when few do the job of many.
Sherry Regiani and David Bonner have served tirelessly for many years. They are both fine people, dedicated to the Village of Ortonville, and have been willing to devote untold hours to promoting the DDA and the Main Street Program.
Whenever there are not enough volunteers to spread the work load, the result is always a saturation point of no return. Unfortunately for this board and for the village, that point reached by two key people coincided with our losing our part time executive director, Janine Saputo, who took a full-time position with another community. Our new executive director, Molly LaLone, will assume a 20-hours-a-week position beginning Oct. 8.
That being said, we are a board committed to our community. We will be attending the Village of Ortonville Council meeting Oct. 8 and would welcome any or all inquiries at that time. Also, I would like to invite concerned citizens to attend the DDA Board meeting Oct. 18 at noon at the village office.
